Bathore and Albania.
From
the main street, a hill catches your eye, and soon opens a spectacular
enthusiasmatic view of mountains and hills that reach the blue
sky. Bathore is surrounded by uncountless houses. The town looks
very busy and alive. This is Bathore. It is located in the northern
urban part of Tirana (capital city of Albania), 7 km away from
Skenderbej Center, which extends in 454 hectors and has about
50.000 habitants.

This area has been an agricultural land and living area too: in
1990', with the fall of Enver Hoxha's regime, first building constructions
took place, built by people arriving from north and northeast
of Albania as the result of the uncontrolled internal migration
caused by the poverty.

Bathore is surrounded by mountains, and artificial lakes, a nature
waiting to be discovered, to be lived along with magic of the
Albanian culture. The families come mainly from north of Albania,
that now has already reached the limits of poverty, where finding
a job is a real achievement.
Many families moved down to this area with nothing, and faced
a lot of hardships and difficulties in building a place where
to live.
Normally
families are grouped according to their original areas where they
came from, or family relations: the major part are originated
from Kukes but a big number of families come also from Tropoja,
Puka and Mirdita.
Traditions are rich reflections of the spirit of this nation
and whoever decides to write the history of a nation he/she has
to refer to these traditions to increase the enrichment of the
language. An important part of these traditions is "Kanun".
The
word "kanun" comes from the greek word-éáipi-
which is a wood equipment to draw straight lines. Kanun collects
all the laws that have been passed on from generations and are
not codified, through which the northern Albanian people have
lived and abide long time ago.
All the laws are described in the Kanun. It speaks about the honor,
the hospitality as part of kanun, but also as part of virtue of
the Albanian people. In "kanun" is written that "the
house is God's and the guest's. And the guest is treated really
well and well cared of. The best place is reserved for the guest.
When the guest leave the house he/she is accompanied where he
wants to.
